6 Killed In Attack On Pak Stock Exchange In Karachi, 4 Gunmen Shot Dead
KARACHI:
Four terrorists who attacked Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi were shot dead this morning. At least six others were killed in the attack, according to officials.
Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon told Reuters that gunmen stormed the building, which is in a high-security zone, which also houses the head offices of several private banks, including grenades and guns. "Four assailants were killed, they came in a silver Corolla car," Mr. Memon said.
Four security guards, a policeman and a passenger were also killed, according to a Karachi police statement, AFP reported.
"Police have recovered sophisticated automatic weapons and explosives from the terrorists," the statement read.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) tweeted that "the situation is still emerging". "The PSX compound was attacked today as well. The situation is still unfolding and with the help of security forces, the administration is managing the security and keeping the situation under control," a post said.
